Hi, i arrived in Ecuador in September on the 3 month tourist visa, I then extended with the 12IX 6 month visa which expires in July. I want to be able to stay in Ecuador longer and I am interested in a student visa or a work visa. Do I have to be accepted at a University here to obtain a student visa? Do I have to be hired by a company to apply for a work visa? What are my options for beginning this process? Thank you!

Alway good info to know. Flights seem to be up almost $100 from last year but I am still looking. Cuenca in mid August for 2 weeks…. I love your site… Keep up the great work… EcuadorGeorge

Hey when I went to montanita i went there and i have to say that the pizza there is amazing!!!!! However the american owner that i met wasn’t very nice!!! I was kind of disappointed actually! Great pizza place but I expected him to be more hospitable oh welll!!!!!!!!!!! The Argentinean waitress was nice though!

We would love to visit the Galapagos. We were told that it can be less expensive by a lot if you are a “Legal Resident” of Ecuador so we have been waiting until we move there next year. We have also been told about a “Poor Man’s Galapagos” . Can you shed any light on either of these subjects…. Love your blog
